has over 200 parks encompassing 1100 Our newly built Nanaimo Parkway Trail stretches 20 kilometres from Cedar to Upper Lantzville. This paved and tree-lined corridor is worth a trip here in itself. The Pacific Northwest Parks Association recently awarded the City of Nanaimo with their coveted Design of the Year Award for the trail's outstanding features. Nanaimo's newest trail is a multi-use paved trail paralleling the E & N Railway. This trail stretches several kilometres and is used regularly by cyclists, rollerbladers, walkers and runners. Nanaimo also has miles and miles of great single track and cross country trails for serious mountain bikers. A newly printed collection of trail maps and hints is available at local bookstores and bike shops. Bikes are available for rental, during the summer months, at Alberni Outpost Adventure Centre, located across the street from The Buccaneer Inn at Sealand Market.
