BUSINESS
TRAVELERS
The Buccaneer Inn features hotel-style accommodation
that isn't your typical hotel room! Prefer a suite for the price
of
a hotel room? Don't need all the services of a full service hotel,
but you still want great quality, spotless 3.5
Star accommodation that makes you feel at home? Then you have
found the right place!
Dave,Marlene & Christopher
welcome you to our renovated and refurbished 'home away from
home' 1 bedroom suites and studios! We are your best accommodation
value in Nanaimo and the Mid-Vancouver Island region.
The
Buccaneer Inn is ideally suited for those business
travelers that are budget conscious yet still expect quiet, quality, moderately
priced accommodation. We don't provide all the services that
full service hotels do, but you'll be really comfortable here
and our rates won't hurt you or your
company's pocketbook.
For about the price of a standard downtown hotel room,
you can stay in our deluxe oceanview fireplace
suite. This spacious 1 bedroom apartment with real wood-burning
fireplace (Nanaimo's only!), soaker tub (the bath salts will help
ease the tensions away) and great views of the water makes a nice
break from the norm. One of our corporate
clients has this to say about this great suite: "The suite
we stayed in was wonderful, it had a separate bedroom, and full
kitchen. There was a fireplace, real quilts on the beds, and real
furniture, not that stiff uncomfortable hotel stuff you are used
to. Marlene was a gracious
host and our stay was delightful.
I highly recommend it to all!" Read more Testimonials

many large, medium and small provincial and national businesses
and governments including Overwaitea Food Group, Transport Canada,
Canada Customs and Revenue, BC Ferries, Pacific Biological Research
Station and Staples Business Depot.
When
I travel, I like to wake up in a separate bedroom and not have
to look at my laptop. With our 2-room
oceanview suites, you get a separate sleeping room where
you'll wake up rejuvenated. Your living room area has a comfortable
sofa to relax on. Our full kitchens let you make a fresh pot
of coffee, or even your favourite breakfast and dinner, and enjoy
your surroundings. When you do need to work, take advantage
of our free high speed wireless internet access!
Won't
be spending much time in your room, we also offer cozy
studios! Our studios are
just right for those that want 'just a bed to sleep in'!
As
owners, operators and live-in managers of The Buccaneer, we know
what it's like to spend a lot of time in a hotel. We strive to
have the type of environment that you can go about your business
and then come 'home', put your feet up and relax. Our attention
to detail and fastidious housekeeping has earned us compliments from
Tourism British Columbia and thousands of repeat guests.
It's those simple things like, a non-smoking environment,
brand new Serta Posturpedic Perfect Sleeper beds, fluffy towels, real
plants, free movies, games and books, National Geographic magazines
and playing cards in your room, that help make the difference when
you are away from your home and family.
Our
oceanview, semi-waterfront, location is in central Nanaimo and
across from Newcastle Channel, Newcastle Island Provincial Park,
Departure Bay and marinas. We're also the closest accommodation
to the B.C. Ferries terminal at
Departure Bay. In our immediate neighbourhood are 6 restaurants
and pubs.

Downtown
Nanaimo and the Nanaimo Harbour Lynx high speed passenger ferry
to downtown Vancouver, are a beautiful 20 minute walk away. What
a great way to start your day. A refreshingly brisk 2 kilometer
walk downtown and you're ready to do business. Taxi's are plentiful

Some handy packing tips we thought you could use!
Packing Tips For the Business
Traveler
If you're doing a lot of business traveling, chances are you've
already learned to be a carry-on traveler. If you aren't a carry-on
traveler here are a few facts to consider that will encourage you
to learn to be one:
- According to the U.S. Transportation Department approximately
1 in 200 bags are lost, misdirected or stolen, which means most
likely there will be one person on each flight who will end
up with their luggage missing.
- Eighty-seven percent of missing or stolen luggage happens
at the curbside check-in station.
- Gate agent errors frequently occur causing your luggage to
be routed to the wrong destination.
- If you don't check in luggage, you won't have to wait around
for your bag to be unloaded; thus you'll save time and sometimes
a lot of time!
What is most difficult about being a carry-on traveler is figuring
out how to pack all of your belongings in one bag, and still manage
to have your clothing wrinkle free. Airlines are enforcing carry-on
regulations therefore make sure your bag is 9 X 14 X 22 inches.
Utilize wheeled luggage containing a garment bag for your suits,
a small tote for your toiletries, and a compartment for your laptop
and/or business manuals. The best way to place your clothing inside
of your bag for maximum space and less wrinkles is to roll them
tightly or lay them flat without folding them at all. Use every
nook and cranny. If you can't use a small tote that will fit into
your bag, put items like your toothpaste, socks, modem cables, underwear,
mouthwash, etc. inside your shoes and coat pockets. Wear your shoes
or jacket on the plane instead of packing them inside your bag.
You can also opt to use plastic bags to pack your socks and underwear
or for your dirty clothing.
Don't hesitate to spend $300 to $500 on a good piece of luggage.
You'll be more than happy you did in order to protect expensive
items that can easily be broken inside your luggage when it is thrown,
dropped, or squished into small spaces. In addition, most expensive
wheeled luggage is expandable, allowing you not to be in a bind
when you need more room to take home gifts or items you didn't have
when you did your initial packing. Ensure that your luggage is not
bombarded with tags and stickers as they fall prey to thieves who
are looking to take the bags of wealthy frequent flyers. Use a business
card to label your luggage, instead of writing in your personal
phone number and home address. For more information on what to pack,
